MISSION STATEMENT

The Baxy Invitational was created to bring together a close group of friends for a fun and competitive golf tournament. As the tournament grows, maintaining a random partner draw is the best way to replicate the atmosphere of the original tournament and to create a strong dynamic with new people. Here's to birdies, cold beers, good drinks, old friends, new friends, and legendary memories to be made.

VISIONARY GOAL

Our goal is to enhance the overall experience of the Baxy Invitational year after year. While the core group of attendees act as the foundation of the tournament, the new invitees will provide an opportunity to expand networks, make new friendships, and create memories. The location of the tournament will change every year, and with the expansion of the tournament, destination locations are becoming a viable future option. We began this tournament with the intention to get a tight-knit group of people away for a weekend for old-time’s sake, and that remains a defining purpose of the invitational. With the expansion of the tournament and the continuous interest from possible invitees, the tournament has become a great opportunity to raise money for charities or specific meaningful purposes.

Our Success

None of this could happen without our amazing sponsors, volunteers and golfers

About us.

Welcome to the 11th Annual Baxy Invitational Golf Tournament taking place on August 30th & 31st, 2025 in Crownest Pass, Alberta

The 2025 tournament will be benefiting Woods Homes Mental Health Centre

SUNDAY, August 31st rounds will begin at 8:30AM

Accommodations will be at The Kanata Inn Blairmore. The hotel has provided the tournament with discounted rates. Please see the invite pdf for prices and a call number. Guests can book alternate accommodations or AirBnb or Campgrounds.

For those new to this tournament, we randomly pick partners once registration is complete. For $1,000 you have the option to pick your partner, this money goes directly towards our charity donation total. Partners must already be invited and playing in the tournament.
The tournament format is a modified team stroke play. During each round, you and your partner must use your scores a minimum of 6 holes each and declare after each hole. After the 2 rounds the team with the lowest aggregate score wins. Example (Day 1: 72 + Day 2: 74 = 146). This format allows teams to stay fairly even, and the opportunity to play with new people.

There is a handicap system in place for teams which is reviewed after the famous partner draw. (High Handicaps Subject to Audit): We have introduced a special fundraiser of $1000 per partnership or $500 each to pick you partner. Partners must already be invited and playing in the tournament.

This year the Baxy Invitational is proud to announce that the proceeds and fundraising efforts will be benefiting Woods Homes Alberta. This charity was decided on by the 2024 tournament champions Adam Weersink and Chance Kennedy.

Wood’s Homes is a mental health centre. We provide treatment and support for children, young people, adults and families with mental health needs. We proudly serve in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore, Fort McMurray, Cold Lake, Grande Prairie and Lac La Biche.

Wood’s Homes values human beings and the place they occupy in the world at any given moment. In doing so, the organization upholds the following principles and is guided by them in all of its moment-by-moment interactions:
  • We value recognizing and responding to everyone with dignity, integrity and respect.
  • We value being responsive, leaning into the difficult, and learning something new.
  • We believe exceptional treatment and safety go hand in hand.
  • We value reducing the stigma, and promoting the importance of good mental health.
  • We value the actions of Truth and Reconciliation in order to make changes that connect children, youth, families and communities.
  • We value the strength of diversity and inclusivity.
  • We acknowledge and value the importance of community and nurturing connection to culture.
  • We value never giving up.

Meet the Crew.

The Committee includes some of my close friends who believe in the tournaments vision, and eager to lend a helping hand. When it comes down to any major decisions, the opinions and advice of these men matter greatly with me. I am extremely fortunate to have their help and more importantly have them as close friends. All of these guys I have either grown up with, went to school with, been teammates with or all of the above.
